Travel Diaries: Longwood Gardens

SHOP THE LOOK
Tucked away in the Pennsylvania countryside lies a magical place called Brandywine.  Last weekend was my second visit to the area, and it was just as relaxing and gorgeous as the first time.  It's a little bit over a two hour drive from NYC.  Needless to say, it is the perfect springtime getaway if you need a break from the iron and pavement.

We chose to stay in a quaint bed and breakfast called the Faunbrook .  A renovated estate from the 1860s, this B&B charmed us from the start.  The huge outdoor deck is the perfect spot to lounge on a warm day and smell the flowers, while drinking a glass of complementary wine.  That was a nice touch.  Our room, the Edith Suite, was painted with bright white walls and decorated in royal blues and golds.  I felt like I walked right into the 1800s!

The Longwood Gardens have become one of my favorite weekend trip stops.  No matter how long you spend exploring the grounds, you could never begin to see all this garden has to offer.  Glittering Fountains make up the elegant Italian Water Gardens, which can be reached by walking through the Wisteria Garden. If Alice were here, she would certainly feel like she was in Wonderland.
